You gotta love a new discovery… and since many of our assignments are to do just that -find cool stuff there is to do in Florida and show it off- We feel pretty qualified to share!
Here is a fun, little-known, outdoor experience we found in “interior” Northeast Florida. It’s great for all ages, all levels and all types of wheels!
The Palatka-to-Lake Butler State Trail, is just that… a multi-use, recreational trail following along an old railway corridor, the Norfolk-Southern Railway, between Lake Butler and Palatka. At time of posting, there are about 20 miles of paved pathway, through Putnam, Clay, Union and Bradford counties, with the expectation that number will double as Florida Department of Transportation funs become available to expand the trail.
Plan your ride to stop in Keystone Heights for lunch. If you’ve pedaled hard and burned calories, you can re-load with a shaved ice and a hot dog topped with your choosing (we vote chili and potato chips!) at The Frozen Pelican!
C’mon… let’s go…[/x_column][/x_row][/x_section]
